Motorcycle Safety videos and other link
"You Tube" has an extensive collection of Motorcycle Safety Video's on their site From the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and others. You can view them and download them for free Here. We are not recommending any specific Video. We do however recommend that you ride as if they can not see you because they can't/don't/won't. When at a stop keep your eye in the rear view mirror with an escape plan in mind. Once in PC I was parked in a turn lane to close to the car ahead of me when I heard, ya know, that screeching brake and tire sound that is coming from behind you. When I looked in my rear view mirror a dump truck was sitting right on my ass. A bit unsettling to say the least. Especially since even had I known he was coming I had no escape route. Now I'm not sure where I learned this and you didn't learn it here because I sure don't recommend it. But what looks, in the picture, to be ordinary "nuts and bolts " is actually "tailgater repellant". Yepper, I know it looks like nuts and bolts. Cleverly disguised huh?
I've been told they are simple to use and effective yet can be extremely dangerous, in this day and age when a heap a vehicles be toting guns, and should only be used in the most extreme cases. Now it ain't anything I would do so I wouldn't know, hell I don't even know where you might purchase them or which brand works But I did feel obligated to pass the info on.
This link was sent in by a reader. I haven't tried it but probably will since I learned that the weather channel alerts are about 10 to 20 mins behind the actual event. I tracked a Tornado on the NOAA site once, it was 3 to 5 mins behind and the local weather had not yet announced it. But it was cool knowing that I had about enough time to crouch in a bath tub, put my head between my legs and kiss my butt goodbye. Now that would be "in the wind".......rc
