Interesting little poem from pace in the Tally Democrat (sec A page 4) today so I thought I would pass that along. Should also be on his site at www.taxteaparty.com Now it ain't about motorcycles.It's about trees. Aha, You may be thinking what does trees have to do with Motorcycle rights and Freedoms. Wellllll, the reason our MC rights and Freedoms are bit screwed up is because the government (all of them National, state and local), ya know the guys that we vote for and then pay to "govern". Which I always thought has something to do with protecting "rights" (in this case property rights). See they don't just be screwing around with me and you. They be screwing around with tree people too. And everybody else for that matter,
Despite our new governments (I don't know how ya tell the difference between an elephant and a jackass anymore) claim after the last election that there would be a new transparency in government. Guess what? They lied. Are you surprised.
Last night CNN reported that only 31 of 435 members of the house contacted would reveal what they have "earmarked" funds for (otherwise known as "pork." Money they don't need but want for their districts to get stuff done like the Alaskan Bridge to nowhere. But then if you want to go Alaska and then go nowhere you will at least have a bridge by which to get there . But even though we have already paid for it take cash cause my bet is you will have to pay a toll to go nowhere). 329 did not respond or said they would get back to them (yeah, you holding your breath?) and 68 just flat out said, "nope". From Nancy Pelosi, "We will bring transparency and openness to the budget process and to the use of earmarks". Now ya know who one of the reps who refused to disclose their earmarks was? Yepper. Ms. Pelosi.
There were 29 billion dollars in "Pork" requested last year. This year there are 32,000 "earmark" requests. Thats a lotta Pork. And you know who gonna be eating it? We are cause them "robber barons" gonna be eating steaks, and flying in private planes, and figuring out how to get more.
How did Florida rank? 4 out of 25 reveled their requests. That means 21 did not. Unless I'm mistaken not one (lets call em and ask them why and when they say they won't tell, don't vote for them next time) our local reps are on the "cooperate list".
So here's how it may have to do with bikers. Paying for Alaskan bridges to nowhere means more tax at the pump and less money for chrome for your "geezer glider" (and I need a new damn seat!) Ride Free (it's not possible anymore is it?)........rc
