"You can't handle the truth" Jack Nicholson, from "A Few Good Men"

A “news” (?) article was posted on Bruce and Ray's describing the problems Connecticut is having problems enforcing their cell phone law. The problem being, it is not being enforced and most people don't care. The other problem with the article is it is so convoluted as to make it laughable were it not so sad.

Unfortunately it got me thinking. And that hurts so bad. Even with the medications. But I did it anyway and I thought, what is the problem people have with the “truth”. Why is it that all through history people deny the truth? Will in fact, kill people if they tell the truth. Some examples of fact that I am betting some people still have a problem with. Problem or not, facts is facts.

Copernicus' publication On the Revolution of the Celestial Spheres was not published until after he died in order for him to avoid being persecuted by the Church. Galileo was made to recant his observations that Copernicus was correct and the earth did revolve around the sun and not the other way around. If he didn't the church was gonna kill him.

Sir Iassac Newton regarded for almost 300 years as the founding exemplar of modern physical science and the founder of gravity would not release many of his works until close to his death out of fear of criticism. It took over half a century for the world to accept his concept of gravity. Needless to say he wasn't about to discuss his interest in “alchemy”.

Columbus did not prove the earth was round most people already new it. The argument was about just how big around it really was. But there were and probably still are people who thought it was flat.

Leanardo Da Vinci believed men could fly and every body else thought the idea nuts until the Wright Brothers did it. But then everybody thought they were whacked too.

The civil war was as much about states rights and economics as it was about slavery

We are planning to send a man to Mars and 20% of Americans do not believe we landed on them moon.

And yes the one that people will fight about though I don't know why. Fear maybe? Prejudice maybe? Or maybe just contempt prior to investigation. But it's lookin pretty sure that we came from Africa.

Why do you reckon people will do anything almost....... Scratch that, a heap of people WILL do "anything" to avoid the truth.

So heres another one people don't like. Driving while using a cell phone, hands free or not, is statistically the same as driving drunk. Yepper, I know a heap of folk do not want to believe that one.

A lot of innocent motorcyclists are going to die because of a simple failure to challenge ones own beliefs. Ride Free....rcAdd to Technorati Favorites

And you thought Thunder Beach is where it happens

From Tallahassee head west on Hwy 20 through a bunch of nowhere. Pass through Ebro, go over a Bridge look for a sign that says Bruce and take a left at the paved road. Ride through more nowhere until you see it. You can't miss it. If you get lost ask somebody in Ebro or just follow a motorcycle.

This is where folk go to get away from things like Thunder Beach. See some pics here. ride free....rcAdd to Technorati Favorites

Patriot Guard Honor Mission-ALL ARE WELCOME to pay your respects

Tentative Staging Information for mission to honor three American heroes in Donalsonville, GA, Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007. Meet at Oak Valley Publix, corner N Monroe and Capital Cir. NW, at 3:00 p.m. KSU @ 3:15 p.m. __________________________________________
Event: Seminole County Elementary School on Highway 91 in Donalsonville, GA beginning at 5:30.

If you have any feelings about MIA's, POW's, and KIA's, this is a MUST mission for you. We welcome anyone who cares about our soldiers. Motorcycle not required. Bring American flags if you have them. We would expect that the Legacy Vets, the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the American Legion, and many other groups would want to be present at this memorial service. I do not have the contacts for all of these groups, so I am relying on some of you to help spread the word. It would be fitting if this was the largest turnout we've ever had from Tallahassee and the surrounding areas. See you Saturday. Mike Donohoe Tallahassee Ride Captain

Some details of the three fallen heroes are below:
1st LT Dan Malcolm Jr was killed on November 10, 2004 in Fallujah, prior to the PGRs existence

HN3 Zachary Alday was killed on June 9, 2006 in the Al Anbar Province. The PGR was not able to attend his service on June 19, 2006. The parents of Zachary Alday have invited all the PGR members attending to a barbecue to thank them for honoring their son.

Family and friends of Capt. Herbert (Herby) C. Crosby, US Army, formerly listed as Missing In Action (1970) in
Vietnam, invite the community of Donalsonville and Seminole County to join them at 5:30 pm on Saturday, October 6, 2007, for a Welcome Home Firebird 91 Celebration at the Seminole County Elementary School Auditorium, Highway 91, Donalsonville,Georgia.

The
Crosby family, along with friends from Donalsonville, would like to share the remarkable experience of the funeral services with Donalsonville friends who have cared for and supported the family throughout the years. Knowing that everyone was not able to attend the services in Arlington, the family would like to bring the funeral service to them, in video format, in hopes of giving a bit of the closure they felt May 25th.
On January 10, 1970, a flight of three Firebirds was on a mission near Tien Phouc. The flight departed Tien Phouc at about 1:00 p.m. to return to our base at Chu Lai. The flight was lead by Firebird 91, crewed by CPT Herbert Charles Crosby, WO1 George Andrews Howes, SP5 Wayne Clouse Allen and SP4 Francis George Graziosi. Because of the weather, the flight elected to fly on instruments rather than flying visually at low level due to known enemy positions. At about 1:15 p.m., the flight changed radio frequencies to contact Chu Lai Approach Control. Firebird 91 was never heard from again. The aircraft and crew were lost with little to explain what happened. Repeated searches, initially hampered by weather, turned up no evidence of the aircraft. The crew was reported as missing in action and were later declared dead by presumptive findings issued between 1974 and 1979.Add to Technorati Favorites
