It ain't over till it's over

Keep your eye on Delray Beach, Fl. Remember, the motorcycle "ban" maybe of the table for now.
But never trust a politician with an agenda. Update here...

Cop nailed for taking pics of the ladies at Cabbage Patch-give the dude a breakCabbage Patch Cops

Cabbage Patch Cops-Orlando Sentinel - The Orlando Sentinel reported that the Sanford Police Department's Deputy Chief of Police, Darrel Presley, faces a two-week suspension for taking photos of topless women during a Bike Week event years ago (WKMG broke the story). Sopotnick's Cabbage Patch holds a coleslaw wrestling event for women every year, and it's one of the most popular events during Bike Week. It's popular because drunken fans hang out in the hot sun waiting for drunken women to lose articles of clothing while wrestling in a large vat of cole slow. Almost everyone brings a camera to record the show.

Darrel Presley was one of many taking photos of topless women at an event practically designed for women to lose their clothing. It's not like he was taking spy photos of anyone who didn't expect any photography. Mr. Presley likes the event and it seems he's been taking photos there for years. In that respect, he's like many of his biker peers. The problem for Mr. Presley is that his job is a bit more strict than most regarding the appearance of impropriety. It has to be for a person trusted with such power.

For some, the cole slaw wrestling event is just a day of fun. Others see it as a day of debauchery. Darrel Presley exercised poor judgment in repeatedly attending an event that has a taint of public distaste, even if only by some. The images posted on WKMG's site show that Preley's involvement wasn't as some spectator from afar. He brought professional camera gear and worked closely with women who were exposing themselves for his photographs. Attending the event was poor judgment. Actively participating in public nudity ups the ante a bit.
There is clearly reason question his actions and administer punishment. I don't think we should define a man's 28 year service to the community by this action alone. Darrel Presley screwed up. He was man enough to admit it. He'll accept his punishment, and that should be enough.

Just at taint of "distaste"??? Ever eat any of that cole slaw after a day in the sun with ladies rolling all in it. Well, lets just say don't do it. I say the only thing that cop did wrong was fail to send copies of the pics to us so we can post them on our blog. Give em a break. OR at least a plate of slaw...........rcAdd to Technorati Favorites

New law would make sagging pants a crime
For full story go to the The Orlando Sentinel

Wednesday, October 24, 2007 New law would make sagging pants a crime:

From The Orlando Sentinel
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY - The Opa-locka City Commission is poised to make this majority-black city of 15,000 in Miami-Dade County the first in Florida to ban sagging shorts or pants that expose boxers, briefs or bare skin below the belt -- or at least where the belt is supposed to be. The urban fashion that started in prisons and was popularized by hip-hop artists in the early 1990s already has inspired anti-sagging laws -- or debates about adopting them -- in cities and state capitals from Texas to New York. The small town of Hawkinsville just became the first Georgia city to adopt such a ban, following the lead of six cities or parishes in Louisiana, and beating its big sister, Atlanta, to the punch. In Tallahassee, state Senator and convicted felon Gary Siplin has filed a bill, SB 302, to ban low-riding pants in public schools. But many in Opa locka, where the median household income is $20,300, wonder whether respect -- or fashion -- can be legislated. "You change attitudes with relationships, not with laws," said Jannie Russell, director of Teen Upward Bound, an after-school program.

OK what does this and the post office posting have to with Motorcycle Rights and/or Freedoms? Well nothing and everything. As has been stated in past posts, the time is fast approaching when "all" of "us". Riders and non riders alike need to wake up to the assaults on freedoms and liberties taking place on all fronts.

Is the right to wear your pants down around your knees of any great concern to you as a biker? Probably not. But what about your "patched" leather vest (yeah I know you can buy em now already patched out but thats a whole other post). Do you want some city saying they are going to ban patched leather vests because they "may", "appear to be", "could be" gang related?

Absurd you say? There are bars across the country increasingly hanging up "no colors" signs.

If a "bar" that serves bikers will do it, what makes you think some city, like Delray Beach, Florida (wanting to ban all motorcycles from a 5 block area of Atlantic ave.), won't get whacked out and try it.

So again I ask, what is wrong with us? I spent time on the phone with an ABATE member tonight as he explained to me how he really didn't know what was going on in ABATE he just joined to ride with friends. Well Hell, anyone who reads the little rants that get posted here knows there is no love lost between me and ABATE. But "Dude", if that is why you joined ABATE, you have done a disservice not only to yourself, but to ABATE and contributed to the current state of affairs in ABATE. Not to mention helped to guarantee that whatever rights you thought you may have as a "Biker" will continue to be threatened, but that your rights as an "AMERICAN" will continue to be in danger.

So again I ask, "what is wrong with us?". What has happened, where did we get lost? As American Bikers we should be the shield that protects against any and all encroachments on civil liberties. Either that or hang our heads in shame immediately after answering the question "why do you ride?" with the worn, tired, cliche .........."for the Freedom".

Every night every cable news station is rife with the news of more rights lost. Everyday news papers across the country report on how another "biker" was killed by some self indulgent, negligent, inattentive, SUV driver. Where is the rage? Are YOU waiting for the total loss of Freedom? Waiting to be affected by the personal loss of your wife, husband, son, daughter, mother, father before you get angry enough to take action?

When will YOU choose to run on the next PGR run, rain or shine, to honor and respect those who stand for you as opposed to choosing to ride for those who care nothing more for you than the freaking dollar in your pocket.

What is wrong with us? When did we stop being Americans and turn into drones lulled by the comforts of "I got mine, you get yours"? Ride on, rc Add to Technorati Favorites
