Just when you thought it was safe to park your motorcycle inside your kitchen.

Jesus Veliz, 31, of Felda, was arrested early Friday on a grand theft charge after Collier County sheriff’s deputies say he stole a motorcycle that was parked in the kitchen of his girlfriend’s Immokalee apartment.

Around 2:30 a.m. deputies pulled over a red pickup near the intersection of Carson Road and Westclox Street, the Sheriff’s Office reported. A passenger told a deputy that Veliz had stolen the small motorcycle in the bed of the truck.

Deputies learned that earlier Veliz got into an argument with his girlfriend at her apartment in the 700 block of Crestview Circle, the Sheriff’s Office reported. While Veliz was leaving, a man on a motorcycle arrived and went inside the apartment.

Upset about the argument and angry that there was another man was in his girlfriend’s apartment, Veliz returned a short while later and left carrying the motorcycle, which he placed in the bed of the truck, authorities said.

When deputies contacted the motorcycle owner, he told them he left it in the kitchen and hadn’t realized it was stolen.Add to Technorati Favorites
