Wheres the Money Doc? President ABATE of Florida

From Diana:

According to the Florida Statutes 2006, Business Organizations, Corporations Not For Profit is the following:

617.1605 Financial reports for members.--Within 60 days following the end of the fiscal or calendar year or annually on such date as is otherwise provided in the bylaws of the corporation, the board of directors of the corporation shall mail or furnish by personal delivery to each member a complete financial report of actual receipts and expenditures for the previous 12 months. The report shall show the amounts of receipts by accounts and receipt classifications and shall show the amounts of expenses by accounts and expense classifications. History.--s. 73, ch. 93-281.

I spoke with the vice-president about why we, the chapters have NEVER received this information. His response was "it would be too expensive to copy and send it out to everyone".

Where in the Statute does it mention "if its too expensive you don't have to comply"?
We, to date, have NEVER seen a full accounting of the books of ABATE of Florida, Inc., as per the statute. This also goes hand in hand with the statement made by the president that the treasurer "burned" the records of ABATE, yet the IRS just completed an accounting of the records. (Editors Note: We were at this meeting and can attest his statement)

If you paid attention to the newsletters and minutes they no longer have the "donation" from the chapters to the president/lobbyist listed. (Editors note: This practice stopped shortly after the state began to investigate the failure of the lobbyist to file financial disclosure as required by state law.)

I find that interesting.

At all of the leadership seminars the chapters are told they CANNOT print any monetary amounts in their newsletters. The list goes on and on. Once again, Thank you for passing the word on. The fight is not over yet.
