Freedom or One Percenters

You can get these little programs for sites such as this referred to as "analytics." Thay tell you a heap of stuff about a site, most of which I don't understand.  One of the things they tell you though, is that over time you can determine which posts generate interest and which don't.   This sites analytics reveal the following:

If we post about anything related to Motorcycle clubs (not Rider Clubs) or 1%'s it will get hit (meaning a lot of folk will check it out) big time.

When we post about Freedom, individual rights or even "Bikers" rights often appear to disappear into cycber space.  The exceptions would be postings related to anybody, one percenter or not, that has been abused while in jail such as Hope Steffy or killed through police incompetence such as Rachel Hoffman.  And oh yeah, we can't forget that any posting with words "party" and "girls" in the title goes through the roof.

One thing the analytics doesn't tell us however is, why is that?  Leaving us to guess or make assumptions based on experience or knowledge gained from other sources as to the why of things.  Of course utilizing such a method can't guarantee acurracy, but then again, even a guess can be more accurate than a NHTSA study.

There are a couple of hints however that lead us to believe that we can develop a fairly accurate theory (oh damn, just heard a heap of people click out).

Now we can't tell if the hits we are getting on 1% posts are coming from actual 1%'s or "Sons of Anarchy" wanna be's.  Based on location we are gonna guess that most are from either 1%'s, affilates or those truly immeresed in Biker lifestyles with some of the wanna be's thrown in.

We can arrive at that conclusion because most one percenter's understand the need to stay informed about whats happening in their world having learned that failure to do so can have ugly consequences.  Unlike many others they recognize their history is their survival, their freedom to exist.  Much like soldiers that have spent much time in battle.

As paradoxical as it may sound, there are many rules that both 1%'s and soldiers have to abide by to insure that freedom.  Ponder on that for awhile.  If you do not get it, you ain't free.

The heavy hits on those posts re: Rachel Hoffman, Hope Steffy and the like, we are going to guess come from people that have experienced abuse in jail or police profiling or the powerlessness of having a gun held to your head with the hammer cocked or subjected to numerous other forms of bondage.  Our bet is they probably grasp the concepts of freedom, rights and survival a tad bit differently than those who have not experienced the same.

In fact our bet would be that many who play dress up and ride on weekend doggie runs (and many straights, though it is becoming increasingly difficult to differintiate) have a very poor personal understanding of the meaning of freedom.

Yes, following is a stupid analogy but may be understood by a broader base.  It's kind of like kids who take for granted wearing long hair and jeans to school.  They have no idea, or care, how many people had to tell the system where to put it to get that right.  They just take it for granted.

In fact most rights and freedoms that we still have were obtained by the few while the many went about there business with the "I got mine you get yours" attitude. Thus the failure to recognize when it is time to draw the line in the sand. Which is what the Helmet battles are really all about isn't it?

NOW I suppose were we of mind to insure our retirement we could shift the focus of this site to nothing but the latest motorcycle news, clubs and babes, babes and more babes and attract some of the advertisers that consider the politics of Freedom to radical to be associated with.

However our preference is to die free to enjoy the diversity of lifes little pleasures.  We also understand that to do so, occasionally you have to draw a line in the sand. Or not.Add to Technorati Favorites

  1. Your words are so true!
It is so hard to get people who say they are interested in preserving their rights, do something to protect their rights.
I guess social acceptance is now more important.

  2. I hate to say it but I believe all Americans are going to feel the sting of wanting their freedoms back. We loose personal freedoms almost daily. Our government has sold the citizens out for personal gain and power. Corruption abounds in federal and state governments. We the people are suffering and our Constitution is bleeding out. Hopefully like a cornered rat, Americans will come out fighting and take down the deseased governments of this great country!
