UMMM Tallahassee Police Chief Jones how come you haven't answered

Yes Chief Jones we know that we are just a po dunk little blogger in a po dunk little town and not worthy of a response.

But let me see do it work this way.  If the police doesn't have to respond to a citizens question, does the citizen have to respond to the police when they get pulled over?

Posted and sent August 1, 08.  Resent this date with the added question, "Who is giving Alabama State Troopers permission to escort football players in Tallahassee?"

Your communication to us Mr. Behenna states the following:

Thank you for your inquiry to the City of Tallahassee's website. On July 16, the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County Sheriff's Office jointly issued a news release regarding the issue of escorts for funerals of fallen veterans of active U.S. military war zones. That news release is available online at: http://www.talgov.com/communications/newsdetail.cfm?id=1500 .

Thank you again for your inquiry.

OUR RESPONSE:

and

(In which the Sheriff states Chief Jones made the comment re football games)

Once you have done that please reiterate our wish that he resign

Below is the post Mr. Benhenna refers to:
July 16
The Leon County Sheriff's Office and the Tallahassee Police Department discontinued funeral escorts many years ago. The escorts were manpower intensive, lead to overtime expenditures and were inherently dangerous to the law enforcement personnel and the general public. Sheriff Campbell and Chief Jones met yesterday to discuss a recent request asking that the policy be revisited in light of the current wartime effort. Sheriff Campbell and Chief Jones are both military veterans and understand the sacrifice made by members of the military and their families. As a result of the meeting, Sheriff Campbell and Chief Jones have agreed to a cooperative effort between the agencies to facilitate honoring local members of the military, law enforcement, fire and emergency medial services who give their lives for their community. Active local military personnel who are killed while serving in a war zone will be provided a funeral escort based on available staffing from each agency.
"I am a military veteran and have the deepest respect and admiration for the members of our military who give their lives to protect each of us. I became a law enforcement officer after the military, so that I could continue to serve my community. I am grateful to Sheriff Campbell for his cooperation and volunteering resources so that we may honor our heroes," said Chief Dennis Jones.

Excuse my ignorance. Anybody see anything about football games there. I see, "based on available staffing from each agency". Sheriff Campbell has made it clear that there will be available staffing, even during FSU football games for KIA's anyway.

ADDENDUM: In light of recent developments it may be that you could ask Alabama for help.  Seems they are available.  Better yet, MAYBE WE CAN JUST GET THE MILITARY TO SEND YOU A LETTER STATING, "WE WILL PROTECT YOUR FREEDOMS BASED ON AVAILABLE STAFFING FROM EACH DIVISION OF THE MILITARY AND THE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE!"

The above and your response will be posted at:  http://www.bigbendbikersforfreedom.com/

We humbly await your response (ok. So maybe humble doesn't fit)Add to Technorati Favorites
