Racers support Troops

Excerpt From the Tallahassee Democrat:  Dozens of people came out to Monticello this weekend to show off and race their rides Sunday at the Benefit Car Show and Car Club Face-Off Kart Race. The event was held at the Monticello Karting and Motor Club, 1765 Big Joe Road. The money raised went to the Family Readiness Group for the 779th Engineer Battalion of the National Guard, based in Tallahassee.

"Anything you pay for the Guard is getting the money from that," said Tim Phipps, co-owner of the motor club.

By late Sunday afternoon, the group, which takes care of families of troops deployed overseas, estimated it had raise $1000.00 from the event.

"If they're not fighting over there, we're not having fun over here," Courreges said.
Those interested in volunteering with The Family Readiness Group can contact Matthew Reeves, recruitment information, at (850) 528-9476.
