Welcome home Marines

(Cpl. Meinhardt being welcomed home)

A group of Marines returned home from Iraq today. Disembarking at the Marine Reserve Center in Tallahassee. Local PGR members were on hand to form a flag line for the returning Marines, to welcome their safe return and thank them for their service.

After which the local PGR provided Lance Corporal Chris Meinhardt with an Escort to the Wakulla County Courthouse.

We asked LCSD if they were able to provide escort to the county line and as per policy they were unable to. Wakulla County Sheriffs Officers however true to the spirit of patriotism, honor and respect that they consistently demonstrate, met us at the county line and took us safely into Crawfordville where Lance Corporal Meinhardt met family and friends. We dismounted Thanked young Meinhardt again and left our mission complete.

I'm not going to mention the names of those who rode this date as we had approx three new riders whose names I cannot remember. The names however are not important as mission accomplished is thanks enough. And in this case mission accomplished. But a big thanks to those who did ride.

Also a thanks to the Tally Road Captain who is experiencing some medical problems but in spite of such made the arrangements and showed up to insure everything went smoothly.

My only regret was we did not have enough riders to escort each and every returning soldier their homes to demonstrate our thanks not only to them but to their families who sacrifice also.Add to Technorati Favorites

Florida SB 1992 HB 137 the bill that was dead, remember?

HB137 passed

SB 1992 Passed the house with new amendments added this morning. Now it must go back to the senate for approval or disapproval of the amendments.

One amendment is curious

It is a title amendment submitted by representative Glorioso that is 2196 pages long. It appears to rewrite the entire bill.

T I T L E A M E N D M E N T
2022 Remove the entire title and insert:
2023
A bill to be entitled
2024 An act relating to the Department of Highway Safety and
2025 Motor Vehicles; amending s. 316.0741, F.S.;

At this time I can not tell if the "stiffer Penalties
provision re motorcycles is still in the bill.

I called legislative info and it was explained to me that this amendment actually replaces 1992.

If this is the case it would appear that the stiffer penalties provision may have been stripped out.

Items of constitutional question remain.

Again this is how it was explained to me and to date I have found many explanations to be less than explanatory.Add to Technorati Favorites
