BIG BEND BIKERS FOR FREEDOM We make no attempt to be "politically correct". Left, Right, or Center. "Argue for your limitations and they are yours" Bach
There are good cops out there
Over the last few days police have been taking a beating in these pages. Well hell to be honest we give them hell a lot. Just like we do to bikers that say they fight for freedom and do not.
Police and Bikers are easy targets. It only takes few to screw something up and everybody gets painted with the same broad brush.
The truth is, I have cops that have screwed me over and cops that have given me a break or helped me out.
Guess what? I have had Bikers that have screwed me and others over and Bikers that have helped me out.
So let be known that we do not paint all cops with the same brush. We know that there are some that are sick over a lot of what they see and try and make it better. To those we wish you continued success and much luck, yo got to have balls to hang in there.
I do not hate Cops or Bikers.

Keeping Rachel Morningstar Hoffman up front
Little news reported of late relating to the death of Rachel Morningstar Hoffman used as a drug informant by the Tallahassee Police Department while receiving treatment for substance abuse. It is our contention that public needs to be kept up to date as to all aspects of the investigation. Until the whole truth is known this story needs to stay up front:Links to related posts from our site:

Was Grayslake a sign of things to come? How to ban a motorcycle rally
On 5-7-08 we posted on how the Village of Grayslake canceled the Ironhorse roundup out of fears that their may be violence stemming from attendance by certain motorcycle clubs.Well apparently that excuse has gone international. Consider the following:
Legal Threat
The organiser of Wales' biggest motorbike show could take legal action after it was cancelled amid fears of violence between rival biker gangs.
The annual Welsh National Motorcycle Show was to have taken place at the Royal Welsh showground in Powys.
But Dyfed-Powys Police said there would be a "significant risk of violence" if it went ahead as planned next week.
Motorcyclists planning to attend the event near Builth Wells between 23 - 26 May have also criticised the decision.
Organiser Steve Bennett said the cancellation would cause "financial suffering".
He said he is considering taking legal action against the Royal Welsh Showground Committee after they called off the event following meetings with police.
| Steve Bennett, organiser |
But he understood there were fears of clashes between the Hells Angels and the Outlaws.
He said violence between the gangs was "very rare and very sporadic", adding: "To be honest there's more violence in any major city on any weekend than you get at any of the bike shows."
But in a statement, police said: "Dyfed-Powys Police has serious reservations about the potential security implications of holding the Welsh motorcycle show at Builth Wells this year.
"The reservations are based on a significant increase in violence between rival motorcycle gangs across the UK as a whole.
"Nationally a number of motorcycle shows linked to the rival factions are facing challenge under the Licensing Act 2003, as the police believe the shows will be targeted for disturbance and there remains a real risk of serious violence.
"Recently the NEC Birmingham cancelled a motorcycle show to protect the safety of everyone involved.
OK, so how is this gonna work. Every time you want to do something thats fun, whoops excuse me, I meant legal, you know, like as in "the right of assembly", the police can just go whoa, wait, hold on a minute, ya can't do that. Why the Outlaws or the Hells Angels or Bandidos, or Pagans, or damn anybody with sumpin on dey back might sho up and cause some of that there violence.
I mean like lets just forget up all this constitutional stuff o.k. cause like these wacko's , the I'm taking away your liberty people, you no like the Sheriff and the attorney mentioned a few posts down paid to protect and serve, bviously ain't read it. Lets just keep it plain and simple O.K.
YO! YOU ALL AIN'T MY FREAKING MAMA!!!!!!! Which wouldn't matter anyway cause I didn't listen to her either (oh, you can tell). Keep yo damn bureaucratic asses in your office, behind your desk and doodle. I'm a free adult and do not need you hovering over my shoulder worrying about my safety cause to be honest I don't think you give a crap.
THERE IS A SOLUTION: The big four need to declare all Walmarts neutral ground. Then all members of any 1%'er club should be required to wear their colors when they go to Walmart.
Then we can see if the bureaucrats will ban Walmarts because they attract 1%'s.
Heres my bet. Walmart will put in a chrome department and Maltease cross rear view mirrors on the buggies. After all, how much violence is perpetrated on Chinese workers by Walmart?Add to Technorati Favorites
Wakulla Dog Pound lady steals more than twenty one grand
(from the 2005 paws run where 60 riders rode)From the Tallahassee Democrat: The former director of the Wakulla County Animal Control
(NOTE: HOME OF THE ANNUAL PAWS POKER RUN WITH A $500 BEST HAND) pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing more than $21,000 from the agency, Assistant State Attorney Jack Campbell said.
Gail Obenland was stealing the money from pet adoption fees, he said.
She was sentenced to five years of probation and 90 days in the sheriff's work camp. She has to pay a minimum of $350 a month in restitution to Animal Control, which is under the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office, and to the Sheriff's Office, Campbell said.
The court withheld a legal finding of guilt because it was her first offense, Campbell said.
WHAT????????????????????????????
Some who are assigned to the camp clean the animal shelter, but Maj. Jared Miller said that's typically for offenders with a medical condition.
"She will more than likely be on the road picking up trash," Miller said. "She definitely doesn't need to be back at the animal shelter."
Obenland was arrested in January after a four-month investigation by the Sheriff's Office, Campbell said. Sheriff David Harvey had called for an audit.

Tallahassee Democrat continues to Bang the Helmet drum
And of course we responded. But why? After all isn't this a helmet free state? Well yes it is, lets see if we can keep it that way. Not based on how you feel about helmets. But based on the government using faulty research to lie us into a false sense of security as an excuse to take away more freedoms? Remember Weapons of Mass Destruction anyone.
Letter to the editor:
Re: Risky Ride
The problem with your story “Risky Ride” can be found on your page entitled “How we analyzed data from fatal motorcycle accidents”. You rely on data supplied by NHTSA which relies on Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) as it's basis for arriving at it's conclusions. Which the U.S. Dept. of transportation itself admits is not accurate.
Consider this from the U.S. Department of Transportation:
Federal Highway Administration http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/motorcycles/20070130.cfm
Currently, the reporting of motorcycle VMT (Vehicle Miles Traveled) data in HPMS is optional and consequently, many States choose not to report it.
Given the recent trends, there is an immediate need for an accurate measure of motorcycle travel to more clearly determine nationwide crash rates, which will enable us to confidently illustrate trends, to assess impacts of Federal programs, and to perform safety analysis to identify future emphasis areas.
The reporting of motorcycle travel will be required for all States beginning with the 2007 HPMS data reported in June 2008.
The story also states, “The data originates with each state's government, which sends records of fatal accidents to Washington in a standard format”.
As you can see from above this statement is patently false. Many states do not report the information and have complained about their inability to accurately do so.
Problems with the collection and reporting of VMT were to be addressed at the Motorcycle Travel Symposium Tentative Agenda October 10 - 12, 2007
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation reports that “During one or more years from 1997-2003 20 states reported zero VMT for motorcycles. Included among those states is South Dakota which plays host to a half a million motorcycling enthusiasts in Sturgis each August:
A fact often omitted is that the Motorcycle Industry council has reported 14 consecutive years of increased sales of new motorcycles resulting in increased exposure. www.mrf.org/pdf/MRF_FactOrFiction.pdf
This is also skewed by registered motorcycles that spend most of their time in the garage, people who own more than one registered motorcycle and poor crash scene investigation.
Although it is often reported whether or not the person was wearing a helmet, the actual cause of death is rarely reported. Was the helmet a factor in the death?
The problem is that this kind of reporting by the government and then media misleads the public. The government can not prove it's own conclusions because they are based on faulty research. Remember Weapons of Mass Destruction?
Motorcyclists can prove that the number one “cause” of crashes and fatalities is Driver Distraction. Where is the ten page story on the one issue that were it actually addressed have the most impact on reducing the carnage on our highways?
