Alabama once again invades Tallahassee

Received a phone call this afternoon from an individual who rides with the PGR to report on Alabama state troopers with lights and sirens going blowing through lights and interfering with the local citizens freedom of movement in order to bring 3 buses of Alabama football players in for tomorrows game.

At first I was like, well hell we already posted about Alabama State Troopers dictating local traffic and it took me a bit to get through my thick head, your talking about today? She's like yeah, now I'm trying to get home on North Monroe and had to pull over for them.
Then God Bless her she asked a silly question:
Aren't they out of there jurisdiction???
Ah but Grasshopper, this little part of the country is Governed by Police Chief Dennis Jones and things like jurisdiction and rights are merely whims and flights of fancy. Where even the Tallahassee Democrat will not trespass on the holy ground of FSU and it's many little gods.Add to Technorati Favorites

Is this site at War with the Tallahassee Police Department Chief

Well if you use the following definition of war
2 a: a state of hostility, conflict, or antagonism b: a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/war

Then the next question would be, is a bullfrog waterproof?

However, let us be clear. We have no truck with the majority of the Tallahassee street officers we have come in contact with. Yes this may be hard to believe but we have been stopped on an occasion or two. I was treated courteously by each officer and each time it was a righteous stop and the resulting ticket deserved.

I am guessing they are not the ones that feel like they have to play with the evidence to get a conviction or play like their in a T.V. series like the Shield and engage in abuses of power intimidating little college girls.

No, our beef is with anyone in power who has lost touch with how and why this country was created and choose to serve and protect the money changers. It is they that serve as an example and communicate to rest of the community that disrespect is not only tolerated, but encouraged.

And if these posts fall on deaf ears then so be it. Because this we will not stand down, will not retreat, will not compromise, will not surrender.

Well now TPD apparently does have the resources when it comes to football and to hell with servicemen.

(Tally police working the games)

From the Tallahassee Democrat with of course our totally objective unbiased observations:
The outcome of Saturday night's game may be uncertain, but Seminole fans can rest easy that traffic should be manageable.
Well now ain't that special. And the families of returning servicemen, alive or in a box, will spend a restless night worrying about getting their loved one home on a game day. Seems fair to me. Doesn't it seem fair to you?
Florida State University and the Tallahassee Police Department have reached agreement for overtime pay for the 100 or so officers who help with traffic at Seminole home games. And, unlike last year, Gaines Street will be a one-way street heading out of each game.
"We're in good shape and we've got an agreement for all of the games," said Paul Strouts, FSU's associate vice president of finance and administration. "This was a settlement that everybody's happy with."
FSU and the city had a dispute last year over $132,000 that the city said it was owed in overtime for eight home games in 2006.
Since then, FSU has settled the tab for $100,000, said Gary Williams, financial officer for the Police Department.
Last year, FSU paid $44,100 for five games. The new contract calls for FSU to pay $93,800 for seven home games, about 45 percent of the city's overtime expenses for the new season. The agreement is similar to years past, but instead of a 50-50 split the city will pick up the tab for its officers in specific lots and intersections and FSU will pay for the others.
WHAT????? HELLOOOOOO, anybody FREAKING out there? The city that is having to eat big bucks related to the defense of their handling of the Rachel Hoffman case and investigating the cases one of their officers apparently tampered with over a couple of years, either of which could result in hefty lawsuits, is going to eat $32 grand on top of the 50% of FSU's rightful debt they have been eating in the past?????

Not to mention the rerouting of traffic and the inconvenience to citizens who, believe it or not, may not give a damn about the FSU football team.

But then Football games bring money into the local economy don't they? And soldiers returning from foreign battle fields alive or in a box do not do they?

Chief Jones it is your duty to protect and serve? Who do you serve? You sir are a hypocrite and play fast and loose with the truth. The fact that you have not resigned brings dishonor not only to your city but to yourself.Add to Technorati Favorites

Some Tallahassee citizens show the color of their patriotism-green with a tinge of yellow

After parking our bikes in the allocated spot at the airport on yesterdays PGR Mission and on my way in to meet with the family I was stopped by a cab driver who advised me we were parked in the wrong spot.
I told him that is where we were told to park but if he and his fellow cabbies had a problem and wanted us to move our bikes 10 feet to the other side I'm sure if he approached the riders still by their bikes they would be glad to oblige him. I assumed he figured it was not worth the trouble since he went into the airport.
After accomplishing our task at the airport and lining up to escort the Riley family home we noted that our oldest rider had been hung up. She is a WWII vet, who rides a beemer with a side car that makes it a little difficult to maneuver in tight spots. We assumed that was the problem and as she always does she would extricate herself from the situation and join us.
Well join us she did at the end of the run where she related the following:
IN the process of getting turned around a lady in uniform came out of the airport and jumped in her stuff because we parked in an area that interfered with the cabbies. It's reported that rather than ask riders to move all the cabbies went into the airport to complain.
Did I mention she was our oldest rider? Did I mention she was a WWII vet who can still fit into her uniform? Did I mention she can hold her own? And h old her own she did.
A couple of us were of a mind to return to the airport and have discussion. We refrained for two reasons.
One, we have no desire to bring dishonor to the Patriot Guard,
and Two, this is the Tallahassee/Leon County, Florida area we are talking about. Where everything comes before soldiers.
The Tallahassee Police chief could help to alleviate this problem were he to man up, find his balls and admit he was wrong to state his office does not have the resources to escort soldiers who do what their country asks of them home. After all consider that Wakulla County does not have near the resources, yet finds away to do the right thing every time.
But then again consider that the citizens of Tallahassee who have not yet lost a child in war apparently are o.k. with the actions, or should I say failure to act, as they meekly swallow whatever the TPD feeds them.
After all it was the citizens of Tallahassee who honked and tried to run over the green berets trying to obtain a little respect for their fallen brother on his way to his final rest.Add to Technorati Favorites

Patriot Guard Welcomes US ARMY Private Riley home

Yesterday approx. 9 Patriot Guard Riders arrived at the Tallahassee Airport to Welcome home from Iraq US Army Private Aaron Riley.
We formed a Flag-line inside the airport for the family. As they went to get in their vehicles PGR members  lined up alongside capital circle to escort the Private Riley and his family home.
As usual in Leon County PGR took care of taking care of traffic.  As usual when we crossed the Leon County Line into Wakulla County we were picked up by Wakulla County Sheriff Deputies to escort us through Crawfordville into Panacea.
Also as usual Wakulla county demonstrated their understanding of the importance of welcoming each and every soldier who comes home.
Cars and trucks pulled over and to those that did some PGR gave the sign language for thank you that has become popular as a way to say thanks to soldiers to whom you may not wish to intrude on their space.
There was an officer at every intersection  in Crawfordville as we slowed down to pass the court house lined with individuals cheering Private Riley home.  We hit Hwy 98 to head east towards Panacea and passing the fire station were welcomed by fire-trucks by the side of the road blowing horns and running sirens and again, people cheering Private Riley home.
We arrived our destination and dismounted to say our final thank you's prior to going about out business.  It was then that Private Rileys father came up thanking us and to us to try and offer the PGR money for gas for the next mission informing us he was a Vietnam Vet.
His was told, No sir, we honor not only his son but him and his family for their service.
It was then that his eyes filled with tears. And so did the eyes of a number of PGR members.
Welcome home Private Riley and Thank you and your family for your service.
And Thanks to the Wakulla County Sheriff and his officers for understanding what Leon County/Tallahassee doesn't.Add to Technorati Favorites
