Not many are aware that out in the middle of nowhere in Gritney, Fl, under an oak tree and a bell there is a monument around which lay the ashes of downed brothers and sisters.
Past services have included the following:
A history of the monument is given as an empty motorcycle runs on a rise in the background.
Long time Freedom Fighter Papa John Brennan will read the names of those listed on the monument and the bell is rung for each name. A bottle is always kept at the foot of the monument and it is passed during services so those that choose may toast those that are in the wind. In old school tradition shot's are fired to conclude the ceremony as the motorcycle is driven off.
It is not as exciting as say, staying home with some brews (take them with you) and watching football.
It is not heavily attended.
It is tradition and all with an appreciation for biker lifestyle are welcome.
Call Papa John (number on the flier) for directions as it may be difficult without a GPS.
I have known people to walk away from these services with a new appreciation for who we are.Add to Technorati Favorites
