Tallahassee Police Department says no To escort for CWO Carl Davis
It's a letter he sent to the TPD and Tallahassee powers to be. As a comment it's liable to get lost in the shuffle and it's to damn good for that. SO we are making it a post. THumbs up nipple freak:
here's an email I'm sending them RC
I'll copy you on it-Nipple Freak
"We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.
Freedom.
Our Constitution.
A good job.
A wonderful family.
By honoring veterans we remember their valor - and we reflect on why they fought.
Veterans fought to preserve the values of America.
They fought to preserve our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
They fought because our country asked them to take up arms. They went where they were sent. Did what they had to do. And, prayed they would survive and return home to family and friends.
Some did not. We remember them with solemn ceremonies .
Today there are nearly 25 million American veterans less than half of them are over the age of 65.
Look around us. Where are the younger veterans?
Most likely, they are at work right now - making a difference for tomorrow.
They are teachers.
Law enforcement officers.
Doctors. Nurses. Engineers.
Name the skill - you'll find veterans working there.
The causes have varied, the places diverse, the politics were different. But one thing remained constant - We veterans-Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and CoastGuardsmen - do not fail those with whom we serve and we did not fail you. So why should Tallahasse/Leon county fail our veterans.
It seems a call was put in to the Tallahassee Police Department requesting an Escort for the CWO Carl Davis military family (his son in Uniform) and his burial.
The line was, we will only provide escorts for those Killed in Action.
Seems to me, And I am not alone TPD and LCSO have no problem showing their support for anything FSU has going on and can provide escort and protection for any event they have going. But you don’t have the time or resources to honor a fallen veteran just because he was not KIA. Someone needs to get their priorities in order. I see from a web posting from a friend and fellow rider a challenge to Chief Dennis Jones:
“Next time we escort a veteran KIA or, thank God a vet arriving home alive in 30 degree weather. Ride with us. See if you don't get more thanks than you will from an FSU football player. “.. I extend this challenge to LCSO and Sheriff Larry Campbell.
Think about it you probably have your job because of a veteran!
A way big AMEN to that!
