Others who are working behind the scenes re: SB968

The following is a partial list of folk we know of in Florida that have been expending time and energy in getting the word out re: SB 968 or fighting with other individuals to get the word out,

Tilex, Ironheart, Rusty, Awesome Eagle, Tygrpbronsing, Dragon, Rogue, Bruce, Diane, Diana, Tina.

We are sure there are others we may are not aware of. Most but not all of these names are from the panhandle/Big Bend area. There are also out of staters that have been posting their thoughts on Bruce and Rays Forum and some from out of state have pledged to write Garcias office knowing that if we can accomplish a bill such as this in our state, other states too can have hope.

We want to extend our personal thanks to all, independents, club members, club reps, any and all who are participating to make what "Bikers" have asked for all these years a reality.

Our voices can be and will be heard. If they are not heard the first time then raise them again. Hopefully the actions of the above and others will motivate those who have not yet taken action to do so.

Call and ask that SB986 not be watered down!

Another stands p for SB 968

Representitive Garcia,
I have seen numerous attempts at a stiffer penalty bill, only to see a final result of the driver of the car walk out of the court room with an $83.000 fine. While the motorcyclists, who was not at fault has paid with a leg, an arm or other body disfigurements for the rest of their life.
The stiffer penalties law has not succeded in applying a penalty which would make drivers aware of their surroundings while on the highway.
It is a sad state of affairs when your license plate on a motorcycle is not in the exact horizontal position and warrants a fine which far exceeds the fine of the person who has violated the motorcyclists right of way.
My husband was hit by a woman who ran a stop sign years ago. There was no ticket issued for the harm which my husband incurred. Only a failure to stop.
After thousands of dollars and 2 years of recuperation was my husband able to continue to ride. The woman who ran over my husband, drove home that day and continued to drive.
With everybody using cell phones and GPS navigational equipment in their vehicles the violation of our right of way will only continue to rise and people will use the excuse which has always worked for them, "I didn't see them".
It has to stop now.
Please Sir, as a fellow motorcyclist, help us make the drivers responsible for their actions by increasing the fines and penalties so they make the concious effort to watch out for us on the highways.
This not only is a law which will affect motorcyclists but bicyclists, golf cats and pedestrians who rights are violated as well.
We need to share the road responsibly!
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
