SB968, Cell phone bills, governmental crap and jury duty-I need taller boots

So ya see this is how it begins. I get notice in the mail I got to do my civic duty and serve on a jury. Not believing they would actually pick me, but preparing for yet another one of my beliefs to be violated and the possibility of being out of pocket, I individually send every Senator and representative in the Florida legislature a packet containing the latest research on the dangers of hands free use of cell phones while driving. See post here

I also call Representative Garcias office for a status update on SB968 and am told Representative Evers office is going to file companion bill. Call Representative Evers office and am told by aide Tim it would be filed that day. See post here.

So were good to go right. At my ol lady's insistence I put on clean clothes and head to the courthouse where, yepper, sure enough I get Jury duty. So yesterday I arrive bright and early in even cleaner clothes, like never worn since washed clothes (never fear however I insisted on retaining my black bandanna) and spent most of the rest of the day and part of the evening trying really hard not to piss my clean jeans.

It's like really hard to concentrate on two attorneys repeating in closing arguments everything that we had already heard but now with "drama" when  the bailiffs have been nice enough to keep a full pot of coffee on the burner all day leaving one with a never ending need to pee.

And then ya get one hold out in the jury room that insures that the bailiff will have to escort everybody, like little ducks, back and forth to the potty on a few more occasions.

Now I'm gonna tell ya something this defendant had the uncanniest luck at avoiding being somebody's bitch you could imagine. Despite the fact the prosecutors didn't do a bang up job prosecuting, despite the fact the defense did an even worse job at defending him, despite the fact he admitted to doing what he was accused of doing and despite that fact he admitted to lying one juror could not find it in their heart to convict him. When asked what in the evidence lead them to believe this individual was "not guilty" the response was, "I just feel it in my heart".  Mistrial dude walks cause they ain't given in cause they have to listen to their.  So much for admission of guilt and lying right???

O.k. so that's done. So today I call Evers office to see if they have filed SB968 as promised. Was told leave us your number we will get right back to you. Stupid me hangs out by the phone thinking they actually meant it.

So to kill time I contact some of the cell phone bill sponsors to get a read on when the bills would be heard (they didn't know?????) and how the info sent out was received.  O.K. you think there is a disconnect between government and the people? Check this out.

One of them tells me they did not receive my info. They checked their spam, they checked their undeliverables, they checked their received mail that they hadn't checked.  So o.k., remember I'm stupid, I asked a stupid question, "how come I got an automatic response from your office advising me you received my e-mail and thanking me for it?????

ARE YOU FREAKING READY FOR THIS?????????

The aide tells me, oh that happens all the time, it doesn't necessarily mean we actually got your e-mail.........

WHAT??????????  Hellooooooooo, how is all of this working????? Have I slipped into the land of the Mad Hatter???

So I'm thinking about all this kinda wonderin, is the world broken and nobody has noticed? Lookin for the commonality in the willingness of this  "system" we operate in to embrace unreality as truth and perpetuate it's perpetuation?

It's kind of like yeah o.k. we all know we all lied but because we told it to you as the truth you must now accept it as the truth and pass it on as the truth even though we all know it's bullshit!  Don't worry about it though because when you wake up tomorrow we will start the game all over again.  We all know it is a game. But we will all play like it's for real anyway.

Oh but, oh yeah, I think I found the commonality: Respect for the truth don't mean shit no more.Add to Technorati Favorites
