"IF" you haven't read the previous 5 posts our suggestion might be that you may not want to read this one. In fact we suggest you don't. We suggest you get on your motorcycle and go sit at a stop light somewhere and wait for a fingernail painting maniac.
If you have read the previous posts and find that suggestion a bit harsh, then I might suggest you are on to many anti-depressants. Which might be one reason many of us have swallowed all the crap handed down to us by the D.O.T., NHTSA, ABATE of Florida, the MRF (I would mention NCOM but they are fairly honest about wanting your Money) the collective legislatures and the media that no longer engages in investigative reporting but just regurgitates whatever is stuck in their hungry little puters. We may even have swallowed a little garbage from our parents and teachers who taught us that if you want change you have to work within the system.
And oh no let us not leave out the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, the biggest whores of all.
BULLSHIT! The system is nothing more than a propaganda machine designed to profit off the backs of those who can least afford it. And if part of that profit comes from your death on a motorcycle, well then, so be it.
Yet blaming the system is not even appropriate. For the blame lays squarely on our shoulders. Those of us who blithely go through life singing, "that won't happen to me or my child, la de da..........", while it (whatever it, it may be) occurs to your brothers and sisters in the wind/freedom across the country on a daily basis.
Oh damn, made a mistake again. I used the term Brothers and Sisters in the wind/freedom. That implies a "brotherhood". We are not a brotherhood. Targets on the roadway yes. Brotherhood?????? I can only guess that the term has grown distasteful, as it comes with a responsibility that necessitates action and sacrifice. Oh damn, not those words again. So distasteful in fact that Motorcycle rights organizations across the country removed the word "brotherhood" from their titles and turned their will and their lives over to the legislatures that could afford them. Even 1%'s are plagued now days, from the inside, by those who would throw their brothers to the wolves, to either profit or save their own ass!
But before this turns into a rant. What you say, it already has? Well good. My hope is that maybe some of you will start ranting too. Maybe do a little more than ranting.
At the last legislative committee meeting some of us attended I ended my comments with something along the lines of, ya know in the old days, we did not worry about people running over us because they avoided us as we had ways to deal with them. It might be tiime to return to those ways.
I submit to you that, that time has come to return to the days when they did "see us." Because they did look for us!
When task forces, prosecuting attorneys and legislative bodies can not figure out that killing a motorcyclist while your driving AND painting your nails is a crime, then the time has come to no longer rely on those sworn to serve and protect (lives and constitutions) and to rely on ways that once worked, but were abandoned so as to "improve the Biker Image in the Public eye" (once included in ABATE of Florida's mission statement, or some words to that effect).
Well screw the Public's Image! Our contention for a long time has been that the public only see's motorcyclists as wallets to be tapped on charity runs and could care less about our lives. After all, motorcycles becoming the fashion accessory that they have, one dies, two take their place. We are jokes to them. We are caricatures populating cheap B movies and TV shows.
So I'm thinkin they don't give a flip about my life I ain't gonna waste any more time begging them for my rights. Nope, time to TAKE them back.
When the state values the care and consideration of a pig over a tax paying citizen it is time to tell them what to do with the pork, literal and otherwise, to remind them how we got our God given rights in the first place! It wasn't by lookin pretty and kissing their corrupt Ass!Add to Technorati Favorites

FLorida Constitution, pigs, POLITICIANS, Bikers. Pigs, Politicians win, bikers lose
Hell I don't know, just call me crazy, but I had a difficult time separating pigs and politicians in the title when figured "PIGs" was applicable to both. And I hate to separate bikers from the rest of the general population when the rest of the general population is also getting screwed. It's just that the screwing of Bikers is resulting in the Bikers dying.

Illinois like Florida doesn't get it-Case of driver painting nails prompts debate on citation
Case of driver painting nails prompts debate on citation
Applying makeup while driving ranks up there in the danger zone with reading a book or dialing a cell phone, according to a federal report that takes aim at behavior officials allege may have played a role in a fatal collision in Lake Zurich.
Prosecutors are measuring the yawning gap between a traffic citation and felony reckless homicide as they decide whether criminal charges should be filed against a driver allegedly painting her nails when her car struck and killed a motorcyclist last weekend.
The wreck Saturday raises questions that have been fiercely debated in Illinois about whether a momentary distraction amounts to criminal behavior, comparable to drunken driving.
In the crash that killed motorcyclist Anita Zaffke, 56, of Lake Zurich, Lora L. Hunt, 48, of Morris was ticketed by the Lake County sheriff's police with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Prosecutors say it may be a month before they decide whether to bring additional charges.
"We are looking into charges in the case," Assistant State's Atty. Patricia Fix said. "But we are waiting for results of blood and urine tests and waiting for the results of an accident reconstruction, as well as any other technical evidence we can derive from the scene."
State Rep. William Black (R-Danville) pointed to the wreck as another example of the need for his proposed "negligent vehicular homicide" law, which would carry a penalty of up to 3 years in prison. Black introduced the bill this year after a bicyclist in his district was killed by a motorist downloading ringtones to a cell phone.
"Our cars are entertainment centers and mobile offices," said Black. " 'I've got to do my nails,' or 'I've got to get this done before I get into the office.' It seems to be getting worse and worse."
"Driving to Springfield today, I saw three cars that had a book propped up on the steering wheel," he said. "One guy was fumbling with a map. I've seen women doing their makeup and men shaving with a battery-powered shaver."
The 2006 federal safety report estimated that a driver applying makeup is three times more likely to get in an accident than someone paying attention to the road -- about the same likelihood of a crash as someone dialing a cell phone.
The sobering statistics helped spur a Distracted Drivers Task Force organized by state lawmakers, which recommended the negligent vehicular homicide law that Black sponsored.
Under current laws, prosecutors often must choose between filing a traffic citation and trying to prove reckless homicide -- that a distracted driver's recklessness was so extreme he or she acted with complete disregard for the safety of others, officials said.
Under the proposed law, distracted drivers who cause deaths would face a prison sentence as well as a $25,000 fine and revocation of their driver's license for at least one year upon conviction.
Despite backing from Secretary of State Jesse White, opposition from the state bar association and some state's attorneys stalled the bill. Black said supporters will try again.
About 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Zaffke of the 1500 block of Eddy Lane in Lake Zurich stopped at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and Old McHenry Road as the light turned from green to yellow, authorities said.
Hunt, driving a Chevrolet Impala behind Zaffke, told police "she was painting her nails as she drove and did not see [the motorcycle] until contact was already made," according to a sheriff's department incident report.
Hunt could not be reached for comment Monday, and nobody came to the door at her ranch-style home.
Defense attorney Ragan Freitag of Naperville said Hunt, a registered nurse, was alone and had not been drinking.
Our comment: What is there to measure????????????? What is Alleged???????? THe woman admitted shes was "painting her fingernails." There were no skid marks. She hit the motorcycle at a high speed. Enough to knock it a couple of hundred feet and "reportedly" the rider a couple hundred feet further.
If it is not considered "Reckless" to paint your fingernails while driving a weapon, then just what is "reckless"???????
The wreck Saturday raises questions that have been fiercely debated in Illinois about whether a momentary distraction amounts to criminal behavior, comparable to drunken driving.
Our comment: There is nothing "momentary" about painting your fingernails!!!!!!! It is n ot an unintentional act. It is a selfish, self centered, sober decision to place the status of your "fingernails" over the life of another HUMAN BEING! Do we need to engage in a "fingernail painting test"?
Ladies, how long does it take you to paint your nails????? Do you just slobber the polish all over them as quickly as possible so you can waive them around at people and say aren't my nails pretty. OR do you take your time to make sure each nail is meticulously covered to look it's best????
This is beyond absurdity or stupidity. This is sheer negligence and discrimination on the part of authorities who would immediately charge a biker with loud pipes and make them go to court and fight it.

Our Comment: Why a month? You gotta read a book our something. Is this like rocket science and beyond the capability of your pea sized authoritarian gray matter???????? ORRRRRRR......do you have to inquire as to weather or not the driver was connected to or a personal friend of some other pea sized gray mattered governmental lackey????? Again we ask, why a month?????

A side note: this is somewhat the same information we tried to make Florida legislators aware of.
Well actually we did make them aware of it. What we got back amounted to a was FU!
The sobering statistics helped spur a Distracted Drivers Task Force organized by state lawmakers, which recommended the negligent vehicular homicide law that Black sponsored.
Question: Why do you need a "task Force" funded at taxpayer expense to see the obvious?????
How many meetings did "unqualified" people have to have to review the qualified literature citing qualified studies done by qualified people arriving at fairly obvious results?????
Under current laws, prosecutors often must choose between filing a traffic citation and trying to prove reckless homicide -- that a distracted driver's recklessness was so extreme he or she acted with complete disregard for the safety of others, officials said.
Comment: Oh well hell, we can see the problem now. You all have to meet and discuss whether or not
painting fingernails while driving is not only unsafe but stupid. O.k. were stupid so we will ask another question? Were in the drivers license exam do you demonstrate fingernail painting while driving abilities????
Under the proposed law, distracted drivers who cause deaths would face a prison sentence as well as a $25,000 fine and revocation of their driver's license for at least one year upon conviction.
side note: Florida legislators (Senator Villalobos you listening, how about Senator Garcia and Representative Evers) took the proposed stiffer penalties for those who negligently injur or kill a motorcyclists and reduced them to community service. AND STILL COULD NNNOT GET IT PASSED!!!!!
Despite backing from Secretary of State Jesse White, opposition from the state bar association and some state's attorneys stalled the bill. Black said supporters will try again.
"There should not be a criminal penalty affixed to a simple 'negligent' mental state," said Steve Baker of the Illinois Bar Association's criminal justice committee.
A shout out to Steve Baker: Could you please define "simple 'negligent' mental state,". Is that a defense they teach in the ambulance chasing law school you may have attended or is that from some "online here you to can be an attorney site," you "simple........"

Lake Zurich nail-painting crash that killed motorcyclist ruled accidental-Sheriff Curran-BULLSHIT!
Lake Zurich nail-painting crash that killed motorcyclist ruled accidental
The death of a Lake Zurich motorcyclist, killed when she was struck at a traffic light by a driver painting her fingernails, has been ruled an accident, authorities said Monday.
The autopsy found Anita Zaffke, 56, died of internal injuries to her chest and abdomen and a fractured spine after the crash Saturday afternoon, Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said.
Keller also said a toxicology test run on the driver, Lora L. Hunt, 48, of Morris, was negative. Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said.
Curran said Hunt experienced "a momentary lapse" and was not paying attention.
"We can all learn from this in the sense that cars are dangerous instruments. We need to be careful, always," he said.
Zaffke, who was wearing a helmet, was riding her Honda Shadow motorcycle south on Rand Road when she stopped at a yellow traffic signal at Old McHenry Road near Lake Zurich. Hunt told police she was painting her fingernails as she drove her Chevy Impala toward the intersection and did not see Zaffke until after she hit her, authorities said.
Hunt's attorney Ragan Freitag told ABC 7 that she has not seen the police report and won't comment on whether Hunt was painting her nails while driving. "At this point she is really distressed. There are some things she remembers and some things she doesn't - she is distraught over this," Freitag told ABC 7.
Zaffke and her motorcycle were pushed forward a few hundred feet by the force of the impact, authorities said.
ABC 7 reported Monday family members said Zaffke was heading from her son's Waukegan apartment to her home. They had been talking about plans for Mother's Day.
"I was pretty much in disbelief at first," said Greg Zaffke, Anita Zaffke's son. "We went up to the intersection, just went up and down, to try to see how this could possibly have happened."
Lake County sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. Christopher Thompson said Hunt has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Curran said the accident would be reconstructed as part of the investigation. Findings will be turned over to the Lake County state's attorney's office for a determination of whether additional charges are warranted, possibly by the end of the week.
OUR COMMENT/QUESTION: And how will you do that? I have an idea, take Sgt. Thompson sit
him on a stopped motorcycle, you get in a car and paint your freaking nails..........you get my drift????????
"That's going to be the state's attorney's office call," Curran said. "They'll look at everything including the rate of speed."
Curran said there were no skid marks at the accident scene, where the speed limit is 55 mph.
No additional details about the accident are expected to be available until the end of the week when the investigation is finished and the case is turned over to the Lake County state's attorney's office, Thompson added.
Greg Zaffke now wears black nail polish to bring attention to the need for stricter penalties for people who hurt motorcyclists like his mom, according to ABC 7.
"I'm sure there are motorcycle groups who would like to hear about this story and potentially help us get the story out," he said.
The death of a Lake Zurich motorcyclist, killed when she was struck at a traffic light by a driver painting her fingernails, has been ruled an accident, authorities said Monday.
our comment: WHAT THE F*&;K???? Have the Lake County authorities been trained by the Florida legislators????
The autopsy found Anita Zaffke, 56, died of internal injuries to her chest and abdomen and a fractured spine after the crash Saturday afternoon, Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said.
Our comment: Ms. Zaffke did not die of internal injuries! She was killed by another selfish, self centered, negligent driver whose whole world revolves around themselves and do not have enough respect for the lives of loved ones of others to keep their eyes on the freaking road!!!!!!!!
Keller also said a toxicology test run on the driver, Lora L. Hunt, 48, of Morris, was negative. Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said.
Our Comment: Which means she can't even use the excuse of alcoholism/addiction or other impairment. She made a sober conscious decision to risk the lives of others in order to have "pretty nails"
Curran said Hunt experienced "a momentary lapse" and was not paying attention.
Our comment: Bullshit Sheriff Curran. You are right she was not paying attention. HOWEVER how "MOMENTARY" correctly applying nail polish to TEN FINGERS you dip shit.
"We can all learn from this in the sense that cars are dangerous instruments. We need to be careful, always," he said.
Our Comment: You pathetic excuse for somebody who is sworn to serve and protect!!!!! Um, they do not tell you prior to getting a drivers license that vehichles are dangerous and one might should be "CAREFULL"?????????????????????

OUR COMMENT: YO SGT. Thompson did the words resulting in death occur to you????????
How about Reckless driving?????? How about Careless driving??????? Is this like after pointing a gun at somebody and pulling the trigger I can get charged with "FAILURE TO REDUCE THE SPEED OF THE BULLET TO AVOID KILLING SOMEBODY??????????"
Curran said the accident would be reconstructed as part of the investigation. Findings will be turned over to the Lake County state's attorney's office for a determination of whether additional charges are warranted, possibly by the end of the week.

Driver allegedly painting nails crashes into, kills motorcyclist
A northwest suburban woman was thrown from her motorcycle and killed Saturday evening after a female motorist -- allegedly painting her fingernails at the time of the crash -- failed to stop at a red light and slammed into the bike, authorities said.
The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. Saturday in a southbound lane of Route 12 at Old McHenry Road in an unincorporated area near Lake Zurich, according to Lake County Sheriff’s police Sgt. Scott Morrison.
Anita Zaffke, 56, of the 1500 block of Eddy Lane in Lake Zurich, died about an hour later at Advocate Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington after suffering apparent chest and abdominal injuries from being thrown from her motorcycle, Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said.
A Monday autopsy found Zaffke died of multiple internal injuries to the chest and abdominal area, as well as a spinal fracture, according to Keller, who said the death has been ruled an accident.
Zaffke’s motorcycle was stopped at a red light at the intersection -- which Morrison described as being T-shaped with a stoplight -- when a Chevrolet Impala struck the bike from behind at a high rate of speed, Morrison said.
Zaffke was thrown “a couple hundred feet," according to Keller, who said she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevy has been identified as Laura Hunt, 46, of downstate Morris. She has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and the state’s attorney’s office is investigating further charges, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said. She was also hospitalized following the crash for non-life-threatening injuries.
Keller said the woman told police she was painting her fingernails and did not notice the light was red.
“There’s a lot of analysis they still have to work out on the vehicle involved in the crash to determine speed and braking,” Morrison said Sunday evening. “The investigation is ongoing but there should be charges against the woman in the very near future.”

May 4, 2009 (WAUKEGAN, Ill.) (WLS) -- A motorcycle driver was killed when she was rear-ended by a driver who was allegedly painting her nails.
The distracted driver ran a red light and crashed into the bike, according to police, just before 6 p.m. Saturday in northwest suburban Lake Zurich.
The crash happened in unincorporated Lake County at Route 12 and Old McHenry Road.
The victim, Anita Zaffke, was wearing a helmet, but it did not save her life.
No criminal charges have been filed against the driver responsible for striking and killing Zaffke, 56, who was a Lake Zurich resident.
Prosecutors are waiting for blood and urine test results as well as the report from crash scene investigators before they decide to file criminal charges.
According to Zaffke's family, she was leaving her son's apartment. He lives in Waukegan, and she was heading back to her home. They had been there talking about plans for the upcoming Mother's Day.
Relatives say Anita Zaffke had a passion for the open road and motorcycles.
"It was pretty much disbelief at first. We went up to the intersection, just went up and down, to try to see how this could possibly have happened," said Greg Zaffke, son of Anita Zaffke.
Investigators say Anita Zaffke came to a stop on her Honda Shadow motorcycle at an intersection. A Chevy Impala driven by Laura Hunt, 48, of Morris, rear ended Anita Zaffke.
The Lake County sheriff says they never expected what Hunt told them next.
"When we spoke with Laura Hunt, we were able to determine that she had been painting her nails while driving her vehicle. She conceded to us she was not paying attention," said Sheriff Mark Curran, Lake County.
Anita Zaffke later died at an area hospital of internal injuries. Authorities are considering whether to file criminal charges against the driver and say they are waiting for results of toxicology tests and the accident reconstruction and other technical evidence before deciding what charges to file.
In the meantime, Anita Zaffke's son wears black nail polish to bring attention to the need for stricter penalties for people who hurt motorcyclists like his mom.
"I'm sure there are motorcycle groups who would like to hear about this story and potentially help us get the story out," said Greg Zaffke.
On Monday night at Hunt's home in Morris, there was no comment. But her attorney says she hasn't seen the police report and won't comment on whether her client was painting her nails while driving.
"At this point, she is really distressed. There are some things she remembers and some things she doesn't. She is distraught over this," said Ragan Freitag, Hunt's attorney.
Freitag says Hunt is a mother of five and grandmother of six. When the accident happened, Hunt was driving from Wisconsin to Des Plaines to deliver a crib to a daughter who is about to give birth.Add to Technorati Favorites
