H.R. 45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009

The e-mails being circulated HR 45, an attempt to infringe upon our second amendment rights are not entirely accurate. A link to bill in it's entirety is here.

My understanding is that the bill, at least by the most recent info I have seen, does not have a cosponsor and probably will not have one. I heard a discussion among prominent democrat strategist awhile back
talking about how many democrats have finally come to realize that sponsoring such bills is political suicide and is the reason it was made the part of any platform.  We are also posting photo's of what snopes had to say as they give a good summary of the bill.

HOWEVER, having said that, the idea that somebody has such a poor understanding of the constitution and civil liberties is even serving in congress is concerning. For that reason we do not believe it would not be out line to drop a line to your representative stating not only how you feel about your second amendment rights, but concern that in this time of economic crises the house is even allowing tax payer money to used for such foolishness. I would suggest to my representative that he/she not only oppose such legislation but take measures to stop any further action on the bill dues to our financial hardship.

Oh my God it's a recovery=Deja Vu or Karma

Earnings are up:
Corporations across the board have shut down plants, laid off employees, cut wages and created profits.
Market is hitting highs:
As people jump on board to buy the Corporations that have manipulated the figures to create earnings and "high speed frequency traders" create false quotes to further manipulate the market.

Unemployment is not a problem:
Jobless Checks for Millions Delayed as States Struggle, no one knows how many people have fallen off the roles.

Housing is accelerating:
Freddie Mac, the second-largest U.S. home funding company, said on Friday its mortgage investment portfolio grew by an annualized 9.3 percent rate in June, while delinquencies on loans it guarantees accelerated.????

The vacancy rate fell to 2.5 percent from 2.7 percent in the first quarter of 2009, the Commerce Department reported.  It's a freaking boom!

Oh My......
Let's see if I can count this up....
70 day CMBs, $30 billion (Friday)
13 week Bills, $32 billion (July 27th)
26 week Bills, $31 billion (July 27th)
52 week Bills, $27 billion (July 28th)
2 year Notes, $42 billion (July 28th)
5 year Notes, $39 billion (July 29th)
7 year Notes, $28 billion (July 30th)
19 year, 6 month TIPS (reopened), $6 billion (July 27th)
That's two hundred thirty-five billion dollars over the next week!
Almost one quarter of a trillion....... geejus.
I guess you should get while the getting is good, but this is going totally parabolic. That money has to come out of somewhere, by the way, in order for the sale to succeed, which is going to get rather interesting at some point - but exactly where it matters is impossible to know.

This is flat-out insane. At this run rate we would be trying to sell twelve trillion dollars over one year's time, an obviously ridiculous and impossible-to-peddle amount of debt at any price.

Ammunition sales skyrocket:
Anyone tell me were I can get .35 cal? Seems most places are out of stock!

We use to harp on the old saw, those who fail to remember/study history are doomed to repeat it. But that was when we thought people had memory spans more than a year long and got their news from places besides "twitter"!

A concept of information theory is that,  "if part of a sentence is unheard or misheard due to noise — e.g., a passing car — the listener should still be able to glean the meaning of the underlying message."

Ah yes grasshopper, but what if a cell phone rings duriing a discussion of slavery?Add to Technorati Favorites

terrorist mules

Oh God I love it. America has officially become a play on the stage of the theater of the absurd:

TSA: Mule skinners need background checks, too

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A federal anti-terror law that requires longshoremen, truckers and others to submit to criminal background checks has ensnared another class of transportation worker -- mule drivers.

Yes, so-called mule skinners -- in this case, seasonal workers who dress in colonial garb at a historical park in Easton, Pa. -- must apply for biometric Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC), according to the Transportation Security Administration, which says it is bound by federal law.

The requirement has officials of the Hugh Moore Historical Park perplexed.
"We have one boat. It's pulled by two mules. On a good day they might go 2 miles per hour," said Sarah B. Hays, the park's director of operations.

The park's two-mile canal does not pass any military bases, nuclear power plants or other sensitive facilities. And, park officials say, the mules could be considered weapons of mass destruction only if they were aimed at something resembling food.

In December, Hayes wrote to Rep. Charles Dent, R-Pennsylvania, about the requirement. Dent, in turn, wrote to the TSA requesting a waiver, noting the mode of transportation involved was "mule-drawn canal boats."

In January, the TSA responded, noting the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 applies to all mariners holding U.S. Coast Guard-issued credentials.

"We encourage the crew members... who possess Coast Guard mariner credentials to obtain a TWIC at their earliest convenience to comply with these requirements and not risk suspension or revocation of their other credentials," the TSA wrote.

On Wednesday, the mule skinner debate reached Capitol Hill, when Dent asked new Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano about the necessity of conducting background checks on mule drivers. He displayed a photo of two mules, Hank and George, tugging a canal boat in the company of two park employee mule drivers in colonial working attire.
"Now Hank and George, while sometimes are ornery, they are not terrorists," Dent said. Napolitano said she would try to be flexible.

"Obviously this is a picture designed to say 'Hey, isn't it absurd that they be required to have TWIC cards.'" Napolitano said. "Um, let's work with you on this particular case, if we might."
Park officials say four or five park employees typically have Coast Guard credentials to operate the canal boat, and the extra expense of a TWIC card, which is at least an extra $100 on top of fees for Coast Guard credentials, is unwelcome.

"I think the rule was written and the policy was set up for all the big shipping, and they never even considered something outside the normal bounds," Hays said.
Dent said he will work on a "common sense" solution with Napolitano.Add to Technorati Favorites
