KIA Michael J. Buras, 23, Fitzgerald, GA, pgr Mission, all riders welcome

Georgia has lost yet another son. Senior Airman Michael J. Buras, 23 of  Fitzgerald, Ga, was killed in action on September 21, 2010 by an improvised explosive device in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Senior Airman Buras was born July 28, 1987 in Tifton, Georgia to John E. Buras and Joy Ann Butrica Buras. He grew up in Fitzgerald, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 2005.  Seniror Airman Buras was a highly decorated Explosive Ordinance Disposal Journeyman in the United States Air Force assigned at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada with Headquarters Air Combat Command, 99th Air Base Wing, 99th Civil Engineer Squadron and was a Purple Heart recipient from a previous deployment. 


He is survived by his wife: Emily Clark Buras of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter: Maddison Joy Buras of Las Vegas, Nevada; father: John E. Buras of Oroville, CA; mother: Joy Buras of Fayetteville, NC; sisters: Michelle Bychurch and Samantha Buras; brother: Stanley Bychurch, all of Fayetteville, NC; maternal grandparents: Irving & Olive Butrica of Fitzgerald; paternal grandparents: Paul & Pauline Buras and Betty Hartley, all of Fitzgerald.


1. Arrival:  Warner Robins AFB, Warner Robins, GA - Saturday, 2 Oct 2010                                 ETA:  Mid Morning. (I will post when the time is confirmed)                                                               
Staging: Air Museum , Hwy 129/247 and Russell parkway, Warner Robins, GA
We will be escorted onto the base and to the flight line by security personnel. Base/post dress requirements have been waived. Please note that photography of any kind is not permitted near or on the flight line. There are no exceptions to this policy.

After the arrival, we will escort SrA Buras to the Paulk funeral home, 301 S. Main , in Fitzgerald GA.  This is a distance of about 75 miles. Be sure that you have sufficient fuel  for this escort.

  2. Military Mom, Big Bend Bikers for Freedom is the name of this site. The Patriot Guard Riders as well as representatives of many other motorcycle organizations participated.

    It is we that would like to thank all of Thomasville for the honor and respect shown this fallen warrior. Your community is an example we wish all would follow.
