The Parade group which is been named Veteran Events in Tallahassee Incorporated, aka VET Inc, will be making its presentation to the Leon County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday Feb 9th at 6:00 PM at the Leon County Courthouse, we would appreciate all the support we can get up there, all that can attend and support this effort will be appreciated.

I, nor I suspect you or anybody else, is going to sink $1.2 billion dollars into anything without having some say as to how that money will be spent. Legal they are entitled as shareholders to have a say in the dealings of the corporations they have invested.
How is this all going to play out if we get into a trade war with China. A few shots have already been fired across the bow.

That individual corporations should be allowed free speech to participate in our electoral process.
If that is the case then somebody answer this how is it that the same corporations that want free speech here are willing to censor speech abroad????????

Re: the Supreme Courts decision to grant Corporation de-facto citizenship status by allowing them to spend as much money as they like supporting various stands of certain politicians in the name of free speech.
Howard commented making some real good points. I responded, however as I stated in my response, my head had been arguing over this decision and my stance quite a bit.
But no more in light of the following from CNBC and the New York times:

Flush with cash despite the global economic downturn, China’s sovereign wealth fund quietly snapped up more than $9 billion worth of shares last year in some of the biggest American corporations, including Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Citigroup.
By buying the securities of international companies, China is trying to spread its fast-growing wealth more widely. It is also seeking to acquire strategic stakes in companies that could feed its hungry economy with a wide range of commodities.The filing indicates that C.I.C. owns about $19 million worth of Bank of America stock, close to $30 million worth of Citigroup shares and about $333 million worth of shares in Visa, as well as holdings in various index funds.
The fund’s largest listed holdings were $1.7 billion worth of shares in Morgan Stanley and nearly $650 million worth of shares in BlackRock, the New York money management fund.
The Morgan Stanley stake was acquired last June, when the investment bank issued about $2.2 billion worth of common shares to help repay the U.S. government under the Troubled Asset Relief Program; C.I.C. acquired about $1.2 billion worth of shares at that time.

Of course, Google’s official stance was that it was just too much of a compromise to operate any business in China:
We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China.Except maybe, for one that’s already successful…

(DIS) is in advanced talks to buy into China’s largest in-bus digital media and advertising company…Google was expected to take only a small stake in the Bus Online deal, while Disney aimed to take the greater part, said the sources, adding that no agreement had been signed yet.Wow, Google! That stance against China lasted all of four weeks!
