BIG BEND BIKERS FOR FREEDOM We make no attempt to be "politically correct". Left, Right, or Center. "Argue for your limitations and they are yours" Bach
Tea Party has lost it's focus becoming a venue for wing nuts.
On April 16th, 2009 after attending Tallahassee's first tea party at the state capital I posted the following:
Can we prove America is a kleptocracy? Yes, 1 in 7 in poverty and growing!
And is fast on it's way to becoming a "Banana Republic" where a "Bill of rights" is nothing more than lips service that the Elite in power use to delude the commoners!
It is being reported today that the poverty rate in this country has climbed to 14.3 percent. The reported poverty rate which covers all ages is the highest it has been since since 1994. The ranks of the working-age poor in the United States climbed to the highest level since the 1960s.
The Institute for Policy Studies estimated that the average CEO earned about 319 times more than the average worker in 2008, compared to a multiple of 42 in 1980. The sums paid to executives on Wall Street are greater still, routinely reaching the tens of millions. Pay norms are so high in the financial services sector that the $17 million bonus paid to J.P. Morgan Chase Company Chairman James Dimon has been called a “concession to criticism.”2 (In 2008, Dimon’s bonus was $28 million.)
If you google this subject you will find a number of articles tracking a steady increase in Corporate executive pay appearing to begin in the 1960's.
It's hard to get a handle on the finances and perks of congress as it depends on who reports what and how. That is assuming they are all honest. We do not make that assumption. It may be irrelevant however as we see with more frequency the Likes of Meg Whitman, Republican candidate for Governor in California who to date has spent approx. $119,000,000.00 of her own money on her campaign. see: http://www.opensecrets.org/
U.S. corporations are sitting on more than $1 trillion in cash, more than the government is spending on the massive federal stimulus package that Congress approved in February 2009. Earnings are strong, according to Standard & Poor's, especially in technology and for raw materials producers.

Most of the money that large corporations are holding stems from "tremendous cost-cutting and shedding employees," says Ken Goldstein, economist at The Conference Board, a business research group. see: http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/2010-08-31-1Anationaldebt31_CV_N.htm
