SHORT NOTICE PGR MISSION THOMASVILLE, GA SOLDIER KIA

Senior Chief in Naval Special Warfare, David "Blake" McLendon lost and 9 other American Military personal lost their lives when the helicopter in which they were traveling crashed in Zabul Province, Southern Afghanistan, Sept. 21, 2010, supporting a Special Operations Mission.

McLendon was a Navy Cryptologic Technician assigned to an east coast Naval Special Warfare unit. He entered the Navy in 1998 and reported to Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, III. In September of 1998, McLendon attended "CT" a school at Corry Station, Pensacola, Fla. During his 12-year Navy career, McLendon served at various Navy commands in Norfolk, Va., Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Brunswick, Maine. His fellow service members said they remember McLendon as a consummate Navy professional.

McLendon is survived by his widow, brother, sister and parents of Thomasville, Ga.( His father is a retired Navy Vet. &  retired Capt. of the Thomasville Fire Dept.).
