FCC to preserve net neutrality, if you can afford it?

There seems to be some controversy among various Tech Sites about the ramifications of further FCC involvement in regulating, or lack thereof, the net. The FCC will have an open meeting tomorrow to propose new rules or a lack of new rules.  Which for us is all very confusing. But then again, we are talking about a government agency.

On the surface it would appear that the FCC is not going to engage in any action that will harm the consumer.  But then there are the ever present loopholes.

RICCO charges after we bail them out give them tax breaks? Kleptocracy!

On 2-2-07 it was reported that:
Overstock.com filed a $3.5 billion lawsuit in California state court Friday accusing 10 of the largest U.S. securities firms of participating in a "massive, illegal stock market manipulation scheme" to distort its stock.

The Salt Lake City online retailer, whose Chief Executive Patrick Byrne has been crusading against stock market trading abuses not just in Overstock shares but as a broad, pervasive market problem, said the banks' actions caused "dramatic distortions" in how Overstock (nasdaq: OSTK - news - people ) shares were traded and lead to a dramatic decline in its price.

Overstock shares are down 77% in the past two years.

"These manipulative activities have caused tremendous damage to Overstock," Byrne said in a statement Friday. "I believe that this conduct is harming our company and our shareholders deeply."

Overstock's lawsuit says the amount of stock that was improperly shorted has exceeded the company's entire supply of outstanding shares. "It's about rigging the system," says Overstock's attorney, James Christian.

Overstock's suit names Morgan Stanley (nyse: MS - news - people ), Goldman Sachs (nyse: GS - news - people ), Bear Stearns (nyse: BSC - news - people ), Bank of America (nyse: BAC - news - people ), Bank of New York (nyse: BK - news - people ), Citigroup (nyse: C - news - people ), Credit Suisse (nyse: CS - news - people ), Deutsche Bank (nyse: DB - news - people ), Merrill Lynch (nyse: MER - news - people ), and UBS (nyse: UBS - news - people ) as defendants. None of the defendants had any immediate comment on the suit.

Note the names, some of the biggest recipients of our tax dollars to finance their gambling casino's which are erroneously referred to as banks.  The cause of the last two years of misery for millions of Americans.

Where are the real Americans?

We have read that sites that constantly throw the truth in peoples faces will fail as people do not like to be reminded of the negatives in their lives. Frankly Scarlet, we don't give a damn......(apologies to "Gone with the Wind").

In most of our posts we include links to validate, substantiated or affirm whatever it is that we post.  We do so as an obligation to integrity. Though we often times ask ourselves why bother when even when smacked in the face with truth, "so called" Americans hide behind excuses for doing nothing, voting into office those who lie and rather than hold them accountable, do nothing but continue to meekly hide.  Only coming out to play during sunny parades when being an American holds no risk or effort other than applauding at the pretty floats or fireworks.

The fact in this day and time, 9 years after one of the greatest tragedies to occur on American soil, the two posts below can still be written,
9/11 victims still suffer, rich still get richer, Merry Christmas
Capital Cops called on 9-11 first responders by Senator Collins???
is the tell of the stewardship we have provided our forefathers principles.

Those two post alone, pointing to a continuing national disgrace, are evidence enough that we are not who we say we are.  Add to them any number of postings/articles referencing the abuses of the banking system and how it lead to economic collapse and yet continues.  Add to them any number of posts/articles relating to the ongoing corruption between corporations, lobbyists, bureaucrats, and elected officials.  Add to that the ongoing posts and articles about the trials and tribulations of our veterans and those who still serve.  Then add to the above anything you choose.

The sum of the above can only equal the deterioration of our own souls that not only are to chicken shit to do anything about these injustices, but are to apathetic to even try to find out what is true and what is not.

The Nation has nothing to fear from wikileaks. Not enough pseudo-Americans give a damn for Wikileaks to  be a threat. The biggest threat to this country is you and I, us, "We the People" who have been dumbed down enough to know no other way but "subservience" and "powerlessness."

To quote Micheal T. Snyder:
Unfortunately, Americans have become so dumbed-down that they don't even realize that their leaders are incompetent. In fact, as sad as it is to say, most Americans you will meet on the street probably cannot even tell you what U.S. Treasuries are.
Meredith Whitney said on "60 minutes" tonight that the municipal bond situation could cause an economic crises unlike any we have seen before within the next 12 months.

We hope she is wrong.  But we must wonder how many street Americans know who Meredith Whitney is or what a municipal bond is and how and why if she is correct, every American in this country will suffer.

Despite what one might think THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT MONEY.  Money is only the tool by which we can measure the DECREASE IN AMERICAN INTEGRITY, PRINCIPLES AND VALUES!

Just as the mere action of proclaiming oneself a Christian means little, proclaiming oneself an American, by itself, means nothing.

The games we play in our heads, with our words, our excuses, our re-frames MEAN NOTHING!

You can not call men and women Heros and then ignore them as they die slow and horrifying deaths at the hands of our enemies.  No, not the ones who proclaimed themselves enemy's.  But the ones who portray themselves as speaking for the people and protecting America while aiding and abetting the suffering of our heros.

Each of us individually has our own moral failings. And though forgiven we may be, they will not follow us into our graves. For the sins of the fathers are revisited onto the sons and the America we leave our children will be of our making as it was made for us who have inherited it.

Should we fear that our legacy may demand payment before our passing?  As stated in the lost "gospel of Thomas"
After all, no one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, nor does one put it in a hidden place. Rather, one puts it on a lampstand so that all who come and go will see its light."
If America is the temple, then it is time to run out the money changers, release the doves and beg forgiveness from the Indians from which we stole this country to enact poor stewardship.Add to Technorati Favorites
