Tallahassee Police continue to investigate a deadly collision between a fire truck and a motorcycle.
It cost a 26 year old man his life and has devastated the first responders behind the wheel.
The fire truck was running lights and sirens to a medical emergency when police say it collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of Tennessee and White Drive at about 8:30 Wednesday night.
The Wednesday night crash cost 26 year old James Anthony Revell ... who most of his colleagues call Tony ... his life.
"This is a treasured employee, an outstanding guy," said LCSO Spokesman James McQuaig.
Revell has worked at the Leon County Sheriff's Office for the past six years. He was working the midnight shift as a corrections officer at the jail. A black wreath hangs out front and the flag is now at half staff.
"He was well liked by everybody. Everybody that knew him, everybody he worked with. He had many friends. This is a tragic loss," McQuaig said.
Just a block away it's awfully quiet at fire station four too. An engineer, a lieutenant, and two firefighters from this station were on their way to a call on Nakoma Lane when the crash occurred. They are now on administrative leave.
"We relieved them from duty. They went home last night. Clearly they were shaken up. Luckily they were able to go home last night and we're just devastated by the loss of that young man who wasn't able to," said Tallahassee Fire Chief Cindy Dick.
Tallahassee Police are not releasing any more specifics about the crash today.
The fire chief promises a complete investigation. "Even if this is one of those things that happens, we look at every angle to determine if there's any way we can avoid something like this in the future. It's a tragedy," Chief Dick said.Add to Technorati Favorites
