The Obama lovefest, gun control, mental illness, Palin and more cognitive dissonance

On January 12, we posted the following: Did Palin get it right re: Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford shootings? wherein we commented:

However, hoping maybe for a little more ammunition to back up our already admittedly biased opinion of Ms. Palin, we did watch it.  Imagine the cognitive dissonance we experienced when we found ourselves thinking, "the lady gets it!"

We admit we are getting older and more feeble of mind. And yes we would admit it is probably difficult to get even "more feeble."  However watching the news last night and the list of conservative politicians and talking heads, including but not limited to Glenn Beck,  as they sang the praises of Obama's Tuscon, Arizona speech we found ourselves hauling ass to the store for more nine volt batteries to stick to our tongue as we engaged in our favorite mantra, "WTF, WTF, WTF..............."

We can only conclude that, yes we do live in Bizzaro world and about the time we "think" (obviously a short coming) we got it figured, the rules get all mixed up and people pretend like it's all freaking normal???????  So we figured, once again, "WTF........ we will ask those that skulk around in the shadowy realm of the blogosphere to help us figure it out".  Cause there be a heap of stuff we don't get!

So here's the gig:

A week ago Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford (who is obviously proof that miracles do exist) is shot in the head by a whack job (we can use that term because we happen to be wacko ourselves).

Motorcycle Safety advocate Wendy Moon, moonrider redux, in the wind.

We recently learned that Wendy Moon, of Moonrider redux passed away Monday in St. Louis.  Apparently of natural causes after an extended illness.

Wendy has been blogging about Motorcycle Safety for at least as long we even thought about "blogging".

In 2008 her site "Moonrider" went down with a number of others when the hosting service, "typepad", went down.   She resurrected the site under the name Moonrider Redux with the tag, "holding powerful interests accountable" at this link, http://wmoon.wordpress.com/

As an advocate Ms. Moon took on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, Riders Edge, Harley Davidson, federal agencies and others in the name of "the truth" re: motorcycle safety.  A meticulous researcher her posts are long, detailed, accompanied by charts, often times raised as many questions as were answered and could make your head go in circles.  We have yet to stumble across anyone who will be able to fill her shoes.

It was our understanding that the original site, like so many others, was not backed up. We hope we are wrong.

On her site profile she wrote about herself:

I've been a motorcyclist since 1997 and own a 1993 Honda VFR 750 and a 1999 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883. I currently live in St. Louis, MO. When I lived in Los Angeles, CA, for 4.4 years, I gave up a car and rode a motorcycle only and wish that was possible here in MO. I've written many articles for Motorcycle Consumer News, was a co-founding editor of the International Journal of Motorcycle Studies, taught at the University of Southern California.

Here is the link to her second to last post:3,10, 70 and 62: All you need to predict Harley’s (and BMW and Polaris) ten-year future
