We have been trying to search Georgia statutes regarding vehicle checkpoints. To date We have only found information pertaining to DUI Checkpoints, which pretty much align themselves with the report issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that recommend checkpoint guidelines in keeping with state and federal legal decisions. To thoroughly understand these guideline, it's imperative to seek DUI attorneys that have extensive knowledge in drunk driving defense. If you are not under the influence then the following would be pertinent to a checkpoint as opposed to a random stop (read guidelines here), following is what caught our eye as it is the same in Florida:
To maximize the deterrent effect, sobriety checkpoints should be publicized aggressively.
also written as: In order to conduct a sobriety checkpoint, the law enforcement agency must have a legal basis for it, such a high number of drunk drivers stopped in a certain area. The checkpoint location and date must be announced to the public beforehand, in an effort to deter people from drinking and driving.
which is why we have now requested on two occasions information as to date and location of checkpoint along with what I may need to know not to be in violation of state law.
As always, we are not attorneys. All we are trying to do here is to help those who may wish to be proactive regarding their constitutional rights find information by which they can make "their own decisions".

Justice for motorcyclists-Florida Stiffer Peanlties Bill SB608
and it's companion bill HB403
Following is the bill ABATE of Florida call's Their bill. And well it maybe since we assume got it introduced by Evers. Though we they did use, as a template the bill we wrote two years ago to replace their original bill which we were able to kill, because they would have compromised on the removal of jail time.
We do feel that pedestrians and bicyclist should be included in order to make it fair and equitable.
