National Highway Traffic Safety Administration needs more money so they can F^*k with us some more. From the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (emphasis and comments in red are ours):
Administrator David Strickland of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has submitted his 2012 budget request to the Appropriations Committees. One item in particular jumped off the page when the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) examined the $860 million request. Section 3011, Motorcycle Safety Grants, includes a $7 million ask that specifically adds the promotion of DOT compliant helmet use to the fund.
O.K. so here is our first freaking question. Since the Department of transportation does not certify helmets, just what is a "DOT compliant" Helmet? Then we might ask, how many Police officers know the standards that the helmet manufactures must meet? AND WHO IN THE HELL COMMUNICATED TO THEM THAT I AM O.K. WITH THEM SPENDING 7 MILLION FREAKING TAX PAYER DOLLARS ON SOMETHING SO STUPID IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREAKING LOUSY ECONOMY.
In the past, the motorcycle safety grant program has solely put money toward two areas: teaching people to ride motorcycles and educating the rest of the motoring public to look for motorcycles while driving. Diluting this already small grant program to include helmet use promotion will certainly diminish the effectiveness of the two existing programs.
WELL GET A FREAKING CLUE!!!!!! Show us the stats that indicate that anything you are spending taxpayer dollars on FREAKING works! As we have posted on numerous occasions the MSF (motorcycle safety fundation) curriculum that most states use has no proven efficacy. It is a scam backed by the motorcycle industry council! When we asked our state about why they use it, they replied, "because the law tells us to". AND....
HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU SPENT TRYING TO GET DISTRACTED DRIVERS OFF THE ROAD. YOU KNOW, THE ONES THAT KILL US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT'S OUR TAX DOLLARS YOUR EXTORTING! Gve it back, WE WANT a REFUND!!!!
You all ain't taught the first MF'er how to ride. We do wonder how many have been killed thinking they learned?
In a recent Senate hearing, Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was asked by Senator Lautenberg (D-NJ) to include a mandatory helmet law in his budget request. LaHood responded, "This administration believes that is a State issue." Apparently Strickland did not get that information.
It is troubling that NHTSA, whose mantra should be "crash avoidance," continues to promote "safer crashing." The MRF believes that the best crash is the one that doesn't happen. The MRF will keep you updated on this important issue.
Well thank you MRF. Who in the hell invented the term "Safer Crashing???" And we really do not care what you believe because apparently despite the membership dues you are paid to fight for us, WE KEEP FREAKING LOSING! duhhh......
Congressional Recess Period
Next week is the March Congressional recess period. Contact your US Senators and Representatives to attend a town hall meeting or face-to-face constituent meeting. Let them know you are not happy with NHTSA's requests and actions. Do not hesitate to contact the MRF should you need talking points or help scheduling a meeting.
WHAT FREAKING TALKING POINTS? The only thing talking to them ever gets this rider is their freaking news letter that I can't even use for toilet paper anymore since they send it out by e-mail now. Um I take that back, we did piss off Senator Nelson one time at a town hall meeting. We don't get his newsletter anymore thank you!!!!!!
