more working class threats-the myth of the state worker

John Lennon is dead, long live John Lennon! Those in Washington who would have you believe that dramatic cuts to spending would lead to more and better jobs are blowing smoke up your ass.  This post will operate on the assumption that those in Washington that pretend to know how to solve our problems, know nothing other than how to play to the lies so many Americans love to believe.

For the most part we suspect not many Americans have spent time looking at just how intertwined national, state and local municipality economies are with private sector companies.  So many companies are engaged in legitimate business with government that sudden and drastic cuts would only add another shock to an economy already on fragile ground.  Defense Corporations alone support whole communities if you follow the flow of money.

Cutting the money flow to and from the Federal government impacts already stretched state budgets.  This forces states to take steps that are ill-advised and in many cases dangerous.  Such as not addressing bridges and such that have long ago outlasted there life expectancy and are now overused and under maintained.  A tragedy will occur.  Not "could", but "will".

We should state at the outset of this post that the evidence presented herein will be empirical in nature for two reasons:
1.  We can't afford to do the research needed, and
2.  Were feeling a bit lazy today.

Veterans and Suicide-Call to action

VA Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-SUICIDE (784-2433)
I had nothing to give
until I sought those who lost everything
from them I received the greatest gift
We just spent a number of hours on a post under this subject and lost it. We hate it when we spend time on something and lose it.  We suspect everybody does.  Some equate time with money and do not wish to lose either.   Some losses receive local and national press coverage with declarations of National Disaster enabling a streamlined process of getting whats needed to those who need it.  So we have to wonder why one of greatest social and economic loses that occurs everyday is not constantly in the news.  We are talking about veterans suicides. We lose more veterans to suicide each year than the general population to Tornadoes and Hurricanes. Factoring in economic cost to society is difficult since as reported by CNBC,
  • So what’s the overall average cost of sending a soldier to defend our freedom? Well, that was my assignment, and after spending two weeks trying to pry that number out of the U.S. military, our crack team of investigative journalists in the Washington bureau came up with the following answer: it’s simply not a knowable number. Suffice it to say, the figure is priceless.
Most estimates put the cost of keeping boots on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan at One million a year per soldier.
