Occupy Movement-OPen Letter to Cops

As I was speeding through the number of sites I try to check daily I caught a comment on a non political financial site regarding Marine Scott Olsens critical injuries at the hands of police at OCCUPY Oakland. The Olsen story is cropping up in many places you would least expect it. This one in a discussion of Greek debt.  The commenter wrote the following (emphasis on the last two sentences is ours):

 If you've read any of my comments about OWS, you'll know that I do not support this movement for various reasons.. but this video CLEARLY shows protestors trying to HELP the Marine and a some fucking douche bag cop tosses a tactical RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of them.. gas, flash bang.. whatever, it explodes and goes bang and in close proximity is still dangerous.

It's inexcusable and unacceptable. The police are supposed to be the example and not the exception. Fuck them.. they can now ALL go fuck themselves. Not ONE cop on the line stepped up to pull this bad apple out. That just tells me that they're all bad.. ALL OF THEM.

And therein for us lies a very serious problem.  We know a number of LEO that are really good people. I have tattooed a few and they got the same problems we all do.

In some MC's the code is, if your bro starts a problem on the street.  Right or wrong you back his ass.  Then, if he was wrong, you take care of that when you get back to the clubhouse.  So we get that o.k.  But we are talking about a 1%'er MC here.  Their oath is to protect and serve their club, not the public.  And therein lies a major difference.

Two Tour Iraqi Marine Veteran Scott Olsen injured in Oakland protest

After surviving two tours in Iraq 24 year old Marine Veteran Scott Olson lies in an Oakland California hospital after being shot in the face with "non-lethal" ammo by Oakland police.  He has a fractured skull and brain swelling.  His crime, Exercising his Constitutional rights of assembly and freedom of speech in a non violent protest, Occupy Oakland. 

"It’s absolutely unconscionable that our citizens are going overseas to protect other citizens just to come back and have our own police hurt them," said Joshua Shepherd, a six-year Navy veteran and friend of Scott Olsen’s, who attended a vigil late Wednesday afternoon for the injured man.

Oakland police Chief Howard reports his officers were only using bean bags.  However TV reporters found rubber bullets in the street after the shooting.  Other LEO was on the scene and there tactics are being investigated.

Acting Chief Howard Jordan said the incident is under investigation by Internal Affairs, Office of Investigator General, Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and the federal monitor that oversees Oakland police as a part of the settlement police corruption lawsuit. Oakland police will also review its training, policies and procedures.

Olsen served two tours of duty in Iraq, once to the Iraqi-Syrian border city of Al Qaim from August 2006 to May 2007, and once to Haditha, in 2008. Both cities were hotbeds of al-Qaida and insurgent activity.
