Dummies guide to new Military Detention laws

Ehhh ... okay, fine.
The gist of the outcry is that Congress passed a law, which was signed by President Obama on Saturday, which authorizes the president to order the indefinite military detention of American citizens suspected of terrorism. This isn't an entirely new concept: Based on a very broad reading of the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force, which granted the president powers in the war against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, President Bush and President Obama have claimed that they can do this already. But the new legislation explicitly codifies that interpretation into law.

Indefinite?
Yeah, can you believe it?

No, explain what indefinite is.
It means they can be held for as long as necessary, without a trial.

Aren't we doing that already at Guantanamera?
Guantanamo, yeah. But those prisoners are foreigners, often caught on the battlefield. The new law applies to American citizens taken into custody on American soil as well.

But putting terrorists in prison forever — that's a bad thing?
The whole point of our justice system is determining if someone is actually guilty of the charges against them. But in this case, the government can detain a suspect without ever having to prove their guilt.

as they will now have to suffer twice for Tallahassee Police Departments negligence in the death of their daughter. Once because a girl that should have never been used for so many reasons that any self respecting cop with integrity would have never even considered it. Not to mention the questionable legality of her use as an informant. But now they will have to suffer again as they sue the city for negligence in their daughters death and the freaking wannabe Miami Vice Barney Fifes and their fearless leader "I don't no a damn thing" Chief Dennis Jones are saying it was Rachels Negligence that got her killed. In other words, she was at fault.

Participating in a sting operation she should have never been used in, the bubbas what call themselves police's lost her within 30 minutes of leaving the station on a plan they designed??? Now they want us to believe that that a college girl hippie stoner and two members of the baggy pants cartel with the shared I.Q. of a tick outsmarted them so that Rachel could get herself killed???

"IF" that story is even half way believable then citizens of Tallahassee bar your doors because those sworn to serve and protect you were outsmarted by tick brains. Oh but wait, there was no outpouring of anger and empathy for a drug involved girl involved with drug court being taken advantage of by officers (we use the word with a terrible taste in our mouth) who are sworn to serve and protect and not use and dispose of. Tallahassee citizens apparently believed Chief fact manipulator (chief we don't escort football players), in our opinion (note that word) equals lying When he stood in front of press claiming I swears to de lawd I know nothing but we gonna make some changes so the stuff I dont know nothing about can't happen again so I don't have to stand up here and say, I don't know nothing......yeah tape record it, because your apathetic ignorance is gonna cost the city a heap of dollars. That means all chicken shit citizens who didn't want to incur the wrath of the Tallahassee gestapo gonna have to pay some more taxes. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord and the tax collector.

That whole station needs to be occupied, if one could stand the stink of corruption, or stupid, hard to tell which.

Now in case you can't tell, we went a little off the chain. When we heard the news report that the city was blaming Rachel for her own death while using her as a pawn in game that apparently was over the head of cops who must match wits with ticks we came unglued. So for your reading pleasure in no particular order cause were thinking most of Tallahassee is rooting for the cops and is only worried about their pocket books and if the seminoles will win something........
We freaking paid attention!
